La Muga Holidays is a small familly company offering guided walking holidays based around the medieval village of St Llorenc de la Muga, from where you can explore the beautiful Alt Emporda in Catalunya, Northern Spain.

Your hosts are husband and wife team, Chris and Lara who moved to the area 6 years ago with their 4 children. We aim to give you a tailor made holiday suited to the needs of you and your party. We want you to decide what you want to do on your holiday and for this reason offer you a variety of walks and excursions to choose from.

Our walks range from short 1 hour rambles to more strenous all day hikes in the foothills of the Pyranees.We walk alongside the River Muga, up to churches and chapels in the mountains, alongside olive groves and through woods of cork oaks. Most of the walks can pass through the many small villages in the area where you can stop for a drink or a traditional lunchtime menu which your hosts will be able to explain to you. With some of the longer walks when a restaurant can't be reached a picnic will be provided. The pace of the walks is set by our guests and we are happy to stop as many times as you want to admire the scenery, take photographs, watch the wildlife or just to take a rest!

The climate in this part of Spain is ideal for walking and so we are able to offer holidays throughout the year excluding for July and August, when the villa is available to rent on a self catering basis. The holidays are for 2 to 12 people and because we offer a variety of walks are suitable for all ages. We only ever cater for one party at a time and if you have young children a babysitting service is available.

We also offer a variety of excursions around the local area if you do not want to walk every day, you can visit the cities of Barcelona and Girona, visit the ski slopes or go birdwatching at a nearby reserve. A continental breakfast is provided each day and either a picnic lunch or a meal at a local restaurant on each full day of your holiday. Evening meals are not provided but there are 5 restaurants in the village or you can cater for yourselves at your well equiped villa.

*The villa is available just for rent and some guidence could be given for local, short walks, or a guide can be arranged at an hourly rate.
