We offer small group tailor-made walking holidays and
tours in Axarquia, Andalucia, Southern Spain.
The countryside is stunning, with magnificent mountains and beautiful views of
the Mediterranean. The benign climate makes walking enjoyable all year apart
from the hot summer months. Self catering accommodation in the picturesque village
of Daimalos.
Just 10 kms inland from the Costa del Sol, is a region of Andalucia known as
Axarquia, given this name by the Moors who lived here for six hundred years.
The landscape is rugged, often spectacular. A series of valleys have cut deep
courses through the mountains in their rapid descent to the sea.
A belt of white villages usually with stunning views of the Mediterranean pepper
the southern reaches of the mountains, which rise up to 2,000 mts (7,000 ft),
providing a beautiful backdrop.
Our unique village properties nestle amongst typical Spanish neighbours in the
peaceful white village - only 25 mins from the coast and 50 mins from Malaga
airport.
Here you can relax and take in the scenery, de-stress and enjoy a series of walks
led by Sheila your guide, who has lived in this beautiful area for several years.
Accommodation is on a self catering basis, giving guests the opportunity to experience
life in rural Spain, and the benign climate makes walking enjoyable for much
of the year.
We offer a very personal, flexible service of guided walks and transport in our
4 X 4.The best way to experience the beauty of Axarquia is by walking. There
are lots of routes, which as well as revealing stunning views, allow us to enjoy
the flora and fauna of the region.
The variety of scenery is remarkable and it is very easy to leave the rest of
the world behind and enjoy the bird-song and the peace.
As we are such a small group, two to twelve, we can tailor this holiday to suit
your wishes.
Steve drives us to the start and Sheila guides the walk, which could be anything
from a gentle one hour stroll, which we could combine with a trip in the jeep,
to a full day's walk. Usually we walk for five or six hours, the distance covered
and the time taken depend entirely on our guests.
We do not provide lunch, but our walks usually finish at lovely restaurants where
you can choose what you want to eat.
Our walks are all 'easy' to 'moderate' grade, making use of dirt tracks and good
quality paths. We offer five days of walks and the sixth day can be spent relaxing,
or on one of our day trips.
Prices from £220 per person per week.
Our preferred changeover date is Thursday so that guests can obtain cheaper flights
to Malaga. We can offer longer or shorter holidays, or you may one to spend more
time on our tours to places such as Granada, Ronda or Cordoba, so please contact
us for details.
