The Hoces del Alto Ebro y Rudrón Natural Space is located in the North Eastern part of the province of Burgos and covers 45,767ha. The river Ebro and its tributaries has eroded the surrounding limestone leaving canyons, gorges and ravines.
The cave known as Cueva del Piscarciano is worth a visit. It takes its name from a famous bandit who took refuge in the cave at the beginning of the 20th century. The Hoz de Arreba contains three caverns: Las Arenas, Las Vacas and El Piscarciano. It is the third largest karstic complex in the province (the length is approximately 14,300m). Hayedo de carrales is a sizeable and well preserved beech wood, between the town of Bezana and the turn to Torres de Arriba. This beautiful area is good for hiking.
Golden eagle and Bonelli's eagle. Griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures, peregrine falcon and eagle owl are all found in the Hoces del Alto Ebro y Rudrón Natural Space.
