Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre Natural Park

 

Overview
The Natural Park lies in the most northwest of the province of Palencia. This remote area is home to a spectacular, almost unknown, mountain range. It covers an area of almost 8,000ha that has been sculpted by glaciers, leaving deep valleys, cliffs, precipices and high jutting peaks. The peaks reach up to 2,500. There are also many lakes of glacial origin in the area.

Sightseeing
La Cueva de la Burras de Camasobres has cave paintings that are of interest.

Animals/Birds
Animals found here include brown bear, capercaillie, wolves, chamois, otters and common partridge.

Plants
Beech, oak, Pyrenean oak, and holm oak woods. These holm oak woods are the most northern in Europe.
